If your music were a flavor, what would it taste like and why?
If my music had a flavor it'd probably taste like 'purple fried chicken'. That's a non-shameless plug for my 2019 collaborative project Purple Fried Chicken. It's funny you ask because that was the whole premise behind the title of that particular project. What if music had a taste. I'm telling the world that my chit is something that's gourmet level.
What's a quirky ritual you have before hitting the stage?
I do this thing where I go into a private corner and spit my whole set to myself. I do it damn near every show.
What’s one social issue that you’re passionate about addressing through your platform?
The main social issue I honestly convey through my music is individualism. I'm a major champion of individualism. Be you!
If you could time travel to any music era, which would it be and why?
It'd be the 90's era. '94 to '98 was something special! Even though I was alive for that time I was mad young. My era is the 2000's.
What’s the weirdest thing you've ever written a lyric about?
Lmfao! The weirdest thing I've written a lyric about is wild to think about. I think you'd have to ask the fans to be real.
Do you believe in manifesting your goals, and if so, what’s something you've manifested recently?
I most definitely believe in manifestation. You're reading the best part of my own manifestations right now.
If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be like?
If my life was a movie the soundtrack would be mainly composed by me because I mean it is my life. We're talking raw hip-hop, heavy jazz, smooth R&B. All the best aspects of those classic soundtracks that we love so much would be the pillars of my own life soundtrack.
What song from another genre do you secretly wish you had written?
I wouldn't have minded writing any of those Lonnie Liston Smith joints or some Miles Davis joints. Jazz music is intricate and it's been a lot of legendary moments that have been produced from Jazz. I would've loved to write some quality jazz tracks.
How does your music help people see the world differently?
Going back to one of the earlier questions, I'm just all about being yourself and being 100 with yourself. Madison Jay down to my name, my choice of words, my image, my lifestyle it's just me. I advocate for people to be themselves especially when it comes to music. The fans pick up on my individualistic energy and I think that is what pulls them into me.
If you could have one superpower to enhance your artistry, what would it be?
If I had a superpower to enhance my artistry It'd probably be the ability to travel at the snap of a finger. Being able to travel like that would do wonders for fan interaction, touring, and building on new experiences. I need to manifest some powers right now!
