Behind The Lens: TellyVision

What are you leaving behind in 2022?

I feel like I left a lot behind in 2022! It was a hard time for me mentally, but also a crucial time where I completely lost everything I attained over the years and ended up back in the shelter. It’s a lot of stuff I haven’t gotten over, but I have to stay focused because on the other side of the fence. I’m fighting another war not knowing if I’m gonna make it out or will I fall victim to the streets. I don’t really know if I answered the question, but I guess the simple answer is…. Everything from my home and two kids. Just for a shot many never see.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush (career or personality)?

I got a lot of 'em, but I would say Eva Mendes. Her body size and that birthmark. But I don’t know nowadays. Ice Spice be lookin too good brooo. Like if she cheated on me, I would say sorry no kizzy. She ain’t lying when she said she been eating her oats and grains lol.

Did you grow up playing game nights, movie nights, Sunday dinner or music in or around your household?

Yea I played Monopoly with my daddy all the time, or sometimes I would help him put his puzzles together, he always liked gluing them once he finished putting all the pieces together. I don’t know about movie nights, but we watched sports constantly, I enjoyed those times. And music? Yeah, We constantly had music playing, my daddy was an old man so we always had old school jams on. My daddy played a lot of instruments and he had his own gig coming up. He must’ve known I wasn’t gonna play instruments so he had me listen to sample beats on his electric piano, FOR HOURS I was having to add different sounds to make a beat he could dance to. To be honest I would never recommend him to teach lol. Noooo. Lol.

What made you choose the music industry versus a nine to five?

I didn’t wanna help another guy fulfill his dream when I can use that energy to fulfill my own desires. And I never really learned anything else and I knew I had talent, I would play the radio and imagine myself performing the song on the radio as if it were mine, and how I would look doing it, cameras flashing at me, having fans going crazy over me, having my name in the lights, having everything I ever wanted. At times I thought it was real. I wanted to be a legendary icon.

Describe your fans in one word and explain.

My fans in one word, I would call them my Motivation. Because their feedback is showing me that they are people actually listening to me, and whether it’s good or bad feedback, I’m just glad you listened. And it’s a crazy feeling when you got people asking when you’re gonna drop something, like that’s a blessing within itself. Because I remember when nobody gave me a chance and now everybody is looking and waiting. Still amazes me til this day.

What's your most quotable lyric?

She put money on my daughter head, wanna whack tha b****

Catch a tiger wit dis 5.56 his ass ain’t holler sh**

Lol I really like all of my lyrics because it’s all organic material. It's from the soul, it may be rather violent or coming from a tone of anger, but if I break down all my songs, they will hit you differently once you hear the song again. It’s more of a sadness that’s often worth it. I think at least. I make music based on how I feel and it’s usually gonna be that way all the way into the album drop, keep the flow. I will make happier music when I’m in that state where I felt this way. Doing it that way makes it easier for me to keep making music and never losing my drive. Most rappers get that break from that mixtape or album and then they lose the drive. That’s why you hear people say “this rapper hasn’t been the same since this album.” I want to always be great and be legendary I spent too many years perfecting my craft, losing all my music and starting over to not give my fans my all.

What has been your worst experience in the music industry?

My worst experience in the music industry is when I used to spend my last dollar on frauds. I learned quickly by knowing my worth, you don’t pay for something when you’re the source, if that makes sense. And also what’s yours will come to you, and you’ll know because you ain’t gotta question it, it’s a smooth process. Knowing yourself and your worth is mandatory In this game. Mental health is a thing but this industry is cutthroat, if you can’t weather the storm, you will wash with the tide, I don’t know what happens at that point because I’m still here lol. I don’t have that problem, I may be low at times but I always pick myself up, it’s a full time commitment. No tears in this game. The Hard Truth.

Do you think you need more copyrights to your music or should it be free for sampling?

I don’t know, im on both sides of the river when it comes to the business side of music, I wanna make timeless hits and I don’t want anyone to even have the possibility of dampening the value of my song. With that being said, I would never get to see the brilliance of the human mind, and how much has Improved in x amount of years since I made that song(s). I’m not sure though, it really depends on the artist and what his/her legacy is, or whatever they got going on business wise.

What is missing from the arts in your hometown/city?

I would say talent, everybody wants to sound like the rapper that came up or do something that’s trending. Lyricism is definitely a lost gem in this game. People like to cheat by doing a hook 3 times and call it a hit lol, it kills me. Only reason they get away with it is because they put a lot of money into it. Difference between hard work and talent. I’m talented, I just don’t have the money, but I know the formula that will change music forever. Red pill, blue pill kinda thing. It’s all about what the higher part wants.

What project do you have out right now that potential fans should listen to and where can people connect with you?

I got 4 songs out right now, PSA, Off Tha Porch, 1 N DONE, Delayed Cadence. I got a Mixtape coming this summer, I’m working to get on Spotify and Apple Music, Catch my music on YouTube for now, My name is TellyVision, follow me on Instagram, totw.vision, Twitter, TellyVisionTOTW, I’ll be in New York April 15th at the “We Are Here” studios, Listen to me on S.T.E RADIO download the app on iOS and android.
