Behind The Lens: TIMEtheArtist

What are you leaving behind in 2022?

I go by the name of TIMEtheArtist, and what I left in 2022 is my poor work ethic.. I say that bcuz to get to where I need to be I need to be more proactive for the level of success I would like to obtain..

Did you grow up playing game nights, movie nights, Sunday dinner or music in or around your household?

I grew up with music all through my household…. My family was apart of the different church choirs. So I listened to everything from gospel to jazz… from Rhythm and blues hip hop. Whether we were cleaning or getting dressed.. or had game nights….music played a big part in those settings. Music was definitely played as my parents would prepare Sunday or holiday dinners. I’d like to think music created a nice vibe around the crib Fr.

What made you choose the music industry versus a nine to five?

Tbh I don’t even think I chose music….

I think it chose me and I say that bcuz I like to look at myself as a prophet. I feel like the real ones from the cloth bring forth msgs and enlightenment given to them frm the universe… I never have to force myself to compose what I would call a sermon to the people. When it’s time to craft it flows naturally as if it was meant to be scripted that way.. I’m not opposed to the regular 9 to 5 bcuz I still have to set an example for the youth. Especially my own. They have to see a wrk ethic and what finds their dreams vs something just being handed to them. Lol I’m just a average jack wit a back pack of raps..

Describe your fans in one word and explain.

And if I could describe my fans in one word it would have to be PATIENT.. I’ve been trying to get solid work out for a few yrs and they have stuck right in there with me… So shouts to them and I wholeheartedly appreciate it.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush (career or personality)?

My biggest celebrity crush is Paula Patton!!That lady fine as hell maaan!! She’s not on every scene but when she does come outside it’s definitely a look you don’t wanna miss… She’s proven to be wifey material and I just like her overall style.

What's your most quotable lyric?

For me my most quotable line would have to be “YOUR BEATS MAY BE DOPE BUT THATS MORE LIKE HALF OF THE BATTLE// ON THIS U-N-I CYCLE IT AINT A BAR THAT YOU CAN HANDLE//!!! That’s a line from one of my tracks called “AINT SAYN NOTHIN” pt 1… It’s on YouTube so look me up and check me out…

What has been your worst experience in the music industry?

My worst experience in the music industry really goes back to my work ethic… I mean I have to get better… I record music and sit on it and that ain’t the way to go… so I need to get out my own way to make for a better experience..

Do you think you need more copyrights to your music or should it be free for sampling?

I’m sure the overall goal in anything is ownership… copyrights are a must for your more original pieces.. now a freestyle of course I don’t think you need all the rights to it… I look at those as practice as well as a overall contribution to the art/ culture..so in certain cases yes copyrights matter..

What is missing from the arts in your hometown/city?

I feel what we’re missing as a city is the ability to break more artist… the way things are ran around these parts seem like a popularity contest… or you have to belong to a certain clique to get the nod.. For solo artist like myself with not very many connections… that could be discouraging.. I think we need to do better overall as a city being the ENTIRE wake county.

What project do you have out right now that potential fans should listen to and where can people connect with you?

Until we get to that point my music can be found on YouTube as well as audio Mack.. My first mixtape came out about 5 yrs ago by the name of TIME TRAVELS. And I’ve put out a few songs here and there since then but not a complete body of wrk.. My next project is due to drop with in these next few weeks.. I named it GENESIS… Reason being is bcuz it’s my first complete body of wrk with all original production…I linked up with MALENKO BEATZ to create a sound and now we feel like it’s time to display what we’ve been wrkn on. The project has a Guest appearance by the great MADISON JAY himself.. And I also got a cousin of mine by the name of BUCK to come through on some vocals for me and last but not least I had to jump on a track produced by JAMAL NUEVE.. Follow me on Instagram @time_86
