A city keeps moving while a voice pauses long enough to watch it pass. Los Angeles four-piece 2070 deliver Windowpane. The stripped-back new single is built on chugging guitars, soft synth glow, and raw, unguarded vocals. Released alongside an official music video featuring painter 1celer, "Windowpane" frames stillness as something hard-won rather than passive. The track feels suspended between momentum and memory—an emotional checkpoint in a life that rarely slows down. What began as a joking vocal impression evolved into something unexpectedly sincere, with both bandleader Trevor Coleman and bandmate Khari trading lines. Coleman recalls:
Khari and I wrote and recorded a good portion of this in the summer of 2024. It is the last thing we recorded at my house in City Terrace, where most of our work had been done previously. When recording it, I was coming up with a melody for my vocals, and we joked that it sounded like something by Modest Mouse, which led to me doing an impression mocking Isaac Brock, but it ended up actually being too good to pass up, so we kept it as my vocal melody on this song. Khari sings on this, too, which is also sick.

“Windowpane” continues to outline the sonic philosophy of Big Blue, the band’s forthcoming debut for Danger Collective Records, arriving February 6, 2026. Across the album, 2070 pull back layers of distortion to reveal acoustic textures, ambient space, and carefully placed synths, as heard on earlier single Transducer. Long recording sessions allowed soft noise and negative space to take the lead, challenging expectations of what a modern rock record can hold. With "Big Blue" on the horizon and more shows soon to be announced, "Windowpane” stands as a quiet pivot point. Follow 2070 on INSTAGRAM and BANDCAMP.
