A heart built to feel nothing still needs rhythm in its machinery. Arde Bogotá use that contradiction as the blueprint for Manufacturas del Club de la Gente Sola (MCGS), an eleven-song album that treats isolation as both architecture and pressure. Produced by Joe Chiccarelli at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles, the record stretches the Cartagena quartet’s alternative-rock frame with Antonio García on vocals and guitar, Dani Sánchez on guitar, José Ángel Mercader on drums and Pepe Esteban on bass moving as a unit. The palette travels from the deep guitars of Señor Herrero and stoner-rock pull of Hervidero to funk, acoustic intimacy, electronic detail and pasodoble-inspired brass. The album’s identity is a collection of parts attemptingto teach its central heart how to move.

The album’s strongest idea is orchestration through contrast. Brass does not merely decorate the rock foundation, handclaps are treated like a rhythmic section and softer textures create distance. The same sense of expansion will reach the United States in November at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, Pacific Electric in Los Angeles and ZeyZey in Miami.
