Behind The Lens: DJ Phoenixx

Is being a DJ your main activity or do you have another job/career?

My artistic field of Deejaying is mainly my passion and my medicine. Otherwise I’d have another profession. I would like to create my own creative label in the future.

How long have you been a DJ?

I really took up music again in 2020, I would say 3 years.

What kind of music do you play?

I mix all kinds of music. It is my ears that control my creative desires. I love a lot of styles. I can wake up one morning and have an idea about a specific genre.

How do you generate crowd engagement, energy and party spirit?

You have to pass on and share your passion with pleasure. Show the public our musical world. Attracting people's attention with our own musical identity.

Do you accept song requests when playing parties/events?

If a DJ presents himself as an artist and master of the event, I think it's quite annoying. Now for a family event such as a wedding it is quite logical for certain requests but it’s also quite embarrassing for the DJ at times.

Where and what kind of events do you usually play?

For now my health is my priority. For me it will be private events (Birthday, corporate and individual). I would also like to do outdoor events and from time to time associations and bars.

DJ's were the creators and the inspiration to break new records, has that changed in your opinion?

No, for me the DJ remains a creator and a major tool in the continuity of music.

According to you, what is the most important thing to be a good DJ?

There are lots of things to be a good DJ. But for me you have to have passion in your heart. Wanting to bring people into your world harmoniously, not just have a party and leave with the money. Respect the mastery used in a harmonic mix, and master your equipment too.

What do you think is the most rewarding part of being a DJ?

To see people smile, have a good time, and also to receive comments, messages and sharing of my creations.

Do you have any DJs who inspire you?

I'm going to be selfish and answer no. More than that I just want to be myself.

"Bonus - What are you currently working on?

There are so many topics to choose from! I'm on a lot of new podcast mixing projects, and I’m creating mixtapes with different artists, releasing my own musical Ep and visual projects as well. There are so many things to create!
