Behind The Lens: Frank Dawg On The Mic

Can you tell us about your musical style and the genres that influence your work?

My style metaphor punchlines people wouldn't get. A very creative hopeless romantic at times here and there, but I thug it out to see the rainbow even if the rain doesn't stop. I've always had the appropriate appetite to be creative and press boundaries and say what's unsaid, but needs to be said for others.

Are there any artists or bands that have had a significant impact on your musical journey?

Tupac, before he had pass, wrote like he never ran out of pencils. Left an imprint! The tenacity of the rose who grew from concrete, he said. He had been the one to spark the change to the world. I believe he lit a sparkler.

What's the story behind your latest release, and what message or emotion are you trying to convey through your music?

My most recent single I was 17. I dated a girl on and off and you know it was back and forth, cheating, simple flirting with others she would do. But she had hurt my feelings by self inflicted wounds. Growing up she had sent me pictures of her blood and wrist with a T-shirt from when I had stayed the night when her father was on a fishing trip. Well I popped the cork and it's called Um Hold Me. It's about the love of my life and her ring is happy too. The first time we made love in the shower. Hair down never tied up kinda love.

How do you stay creative and inspired when working on new music?

Hopes to raise awareness of mental health and what we had went through going up passing notes etc.

What challenges have you faced as an emerging artist, and how have you overcome them?

I'm the voice for my hometown Fayette county. The most poverty stricken county they have. Growing out of Pennsylvania. danger was every day. Never knowing if you waking up or going to sleep within the turn of an alley. It ain't New York rats and stuff, but it's just like people will walk around and just beat you up cause it sound fun, or they need a release on just anyone, anybody, or anything. My release for any of them is my music. Whether your hurt mentally, emotionally, or physically. We all bare trauma and I can touch the roots once the music is heard. It's relatable, it nurtures your soul to the roots to show you that you can be anything you wanted to be. Making the moment perfect, don't wait for the perfect moment. There are snakes, dogs, and pirannas that bite with might, but you have to see all the perspectives behind the mic.

How do you approach the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or routine?

Put yourself in the audience's shoes, tell their story with yours and yours as well.

What one inspirational quote or montra you believe in?

It was my last impression for her to have me, before I go to the rest of the Lord's journey creator most high.
