What’s been your favorite moment of your career thus far?
I've got to say touring and seeing new countries has been a great highlight for my career. Meeting people from different cultures, seeing the beauty of several different countries and also the food! Lol! Next to international touring, I'd definitely say the collaboration with Snoop Dogg was a big moment for me! From us connecting on instagram after a viral tik tok video of mine caught his attention, to him doing a verse on BFU REMIX was all very exciting for me.
How do you or your band typically travel around?
- With me being an independent indie, I primarily travel alone in any mode of travel you can think of. Lol! Some tours I can take over 20 flights. I've never taken a helicopter though! I'm actually on the train in Europe now, which is my favorite method of travel. Easy, quick, comfortable, and you have wifi! Lol!
What’s the backstory behind your latest release?
Last summer, I was sitting at my desk prepping new music for my upcoming EP and the groovy bassline of Ride With You just came to me. I recorded a demo as soon as I could to make sure I could remember it for future sessions. This song has a little intoxicating, soulful, backyard bbq style bassline, to the lead single and title track to my upcoming album. It surpassed all the songs I already had planned to release. It was love at first listen! Lol.
How long did it take before you made your first dollar off music?
I started making money with music when I was about 13 or 14. I was the drummer at my childhood church. This is where I grew and learned as a musician.

When did you feel noticed by the music industry?
I started to feel the industry noticing me when I released Natural Sista in spring of 2013. I feel like it was my breakout tune. It made the charts in the UK, got great press, and even got me my first international tour. It was the lead single from my You Forgot Your Heart . The tune meant a lot for me because I wrote it in response to all the discrimination and hate Black women get for wearing their natural hair.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve done on stage?
It's funny you asked this... 2 days ago at a concert in Europe, after some crowd interaction, I ran back and jumped on stage (which I do frequently) and the rug I landed on slipped and I tumbled to the ground in front of a full house of fans! Lol! Fortunately I was not injured and I was able to make a really cool recovery from the landing that made it almost look planned! Lol! I also threw up the rock and roll sign with a big smile and pose for the cameras! Lol! Embarrassing, but it could have been alot worse! Lol!
What foods or drinks are you bringing to the cookout?
Definitely bringing Brisket, Sausage, and maybe some ribs. Orange Soda or Cherry Coke / Pepsi for the drink. Honorable Mention - Loaded Queso and chips
How do you balance music and your personal time?
I make sure I don't get too buried in either. When I'm not doing music, I'm at the gym doing fitness, enjoying my family, traveling for leisure, out to see a movie, concert or comedy show, being a Foodie! I think to keep a fresh mind when creating music, you need balance.

Who’s on your dream collab list?
The Isley Bros, D'Angelo, PJ Morton, Anthony Hamilton, Earth Wind & Fire, Matt Jones (String Arranger), Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Gary Clark Jr. Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Beyonce, and many more! Lol
What are you working on now and where can people connect with you at?
Right now, "Ride With You (Single)" is out. I plan on releasing another single in September and the EP in October.
