Rema is set to take the global stage as part of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles, joining an all-star lineup that reflects the tournament’s worldwide cultural reach. FIFA officially announced that Rema will perform alongside Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, and Tyla during the historic ceremony on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Held at Los Angeles Stadium, the event will launch the United States’ portion of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and serve as one of three interconnected opening ceremonies unfolding across North America. For the first time in tournament history, celebrations in Mexico City, Toronto, and Los Angeles will collectively open the World Cup—symbolizing a unified continental kickoff spanning Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Music Meets Global Football Culture

The Los Angeles ceremony is designed to reflect the scale and diversity of the expanded 2026 tournament. FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the lineup as a representation of the cultural vibrancy and diaspora communities that shape the United States’ entertainment landscape.

For Rema, the appearance marks another major milestone in the continued global rise of Afrobeats. His inclusion alongside artists spanning pop, hip-hop, Latin music, K-pop, and African pop underscores FIFA’s strategy of presenting the tournament as both a sporting event and a worldwide cultural platform.

The ceremony itself will blend live music performances with immersive visuals, large-scale storytelling, and stadium-wide audience interaction. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for venue activations and pre-match programming, with festivities beginning 90 minutes before kickoff.

A Continental Opening

Produced in collaboration with Balich Wonder Studio, the opening spectacle aims to capture the identity and energy of Los Angeles while connecting all three host nations through the symbolism of the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

The broader concept centers around a “shared heartbeat”—a theme FIFA says represents the rhythm of the game, the emotion of players, and the collective energy of millions of fans worldwide.

The United States will face Paraguay in the opening match following the ceremony.

Expanding The World Cup Stage

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be the largest tournament in the competition’s history, featuring 104 matches across 16 host cities throughout North America. The tournament begins June 11 in Mexico City and concludes July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.

As FIFA increasingly merges sports with entertainment spectacle, the Los Angeles opening ceremony signals the scale of that ambition—placing artists like Rema at the center of one of the most globally viewed events in modern culture.

Tickets and hospitality packages remain available through FIFA’s official channels, with additional releases expected throughout the lead-up to the tournament.
