Bo Staloch Carries Coming-Of-Age Weight Across "Too Big, Too Big"

Growing into a new life can make the smallest decision feel too big twice over. Bo Staloch names that pressure directly on Too Big, Too Big. The Austin-born, Nashville-based singer and songwriter built the project with producer Brad Cook and a close group of players that includes Phil Cook, Colin Croom, Nathan Stocker, Matt McCaughan, and Libby Rodenbough. Earthy alt-folk, baroque pop, and indie-rock movement give the record room to shift between tenderness and joy. At 21, Staloch writes from the edge of a new chapter without pretending the answers have already arrived.
Written and recorded during an intensive stretch at Cook’s Puff City home studio in Durham, the EP stays close to live players and organic texture. Its songs move through young love, changing friendships, grief, hope, and the uncertainty that follows people into adulthood. Staloch draws from observation, people he knows, and imagined characters, which keeps the collection personal without closing it around one experience, but the music looks for movement inside it. Bo Staloch will bring the new material to both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival in October.
