brookelen Reads The Signs On "omen"

brookelen follows the warning signs into a heavier corner of her sound on omen. The Los Angeles artist lets orchestral weight, post-rock texture, and folk intimacy rub against one another instead of smoothing their edges. Because the performance was recorded live, breath, swell, and fracture stay inside the track as part of its design. Built around self-recognition rather than fear, "omen" treats its symbols as cues that only gain meaning when brookelen responds to them. This gives a witch-rock anthem forward motion even when the arrangement turns dark. She describes the destination as:
'Omen' is my witch-rocky anthem for following warning, prophetic signs that all lead back to self-actualization, independence, queerness, and embracing myself."
The visual for "omen" elevates the transformation into the gothic tower home of Jessicka Addams of Jack Off Jill and Scarling. Red objects, cats, rabbits, dolls, and a wedding dress become a trail of omens before Addams cuts brookelen free from the dress. The single leads into dark side of the sun, her third EP and first release with Soliloquy Records, due October 23. Claire Morrison engineered the project, with additional production and mixing by Pearce Gronek, preserving the live push and pull of the performances. The EP extends questions of religious trauma, queerness, sexuality, and independence through recurring images of angels, demons, Genesis, mythology, omens, and Icarus.
