On The Weight, Louisiana four-piece Cashier channel distortion with intention, bending noise into structure rather than chaos. The track opens in a rush of driving drums and whirling guitars, but midway through, something shifts. Tones fracture and reform, like a perfectly corrupted file stabilizing in real time. It’s sonic is proof that their heaviness isn’t accidental. As the title track of their debut EP, it stands as both emotional thesis and sonic anchor for the upcoming project. Bandleader Kylie Gaspard describes the song as:
As the title track of the EP, I wanted to tie the themes of all the songs together. In this song, we wanted to create something that honored the influences that came before us. While staying true to having the guitar as the focal point, the lyrics make this a coming-of-age piece, trying to find where we fit in this life, and how we long for connection.

That tension pulses through every riff with a meditation on belonging, connection, and the quiet pressure of time passing. The Weight EP arrives March 13 via Julia’s War Recordings, marking a defining step for the band following praise from Alternative Press and Stereogum. With over a dozen SXSW performances set for Austin beginning March 13, Cashier’s momentum is carrying a gravity of its own. Pre-order "The Weight" and connect with them on BANDCAMP and INSTAGRAM.
