Tyler Ramsey and Carl Broemel unveil Celestun, their debut collaborative acoustic project.

Built on restraint and resonance, the album places their contrasting guitar philosophies front and center. Originally conceived as an instrumental record, the album evolved organically as vocals surfaced where they felt necessary. The project’s emotional centerpiece arrives with the focus track Flying Things, featuring The Secret Sisters. Written by Ramsey for his daughter, the song unfolds like a bedtime spell—tender, weightless, and deeply personal. “We’re all flying things,” his daughter once said, a moment Ramsey preserved and transformed into a lullaby about protection, imagination, and love. Speaking on the album Rasmey said:

I’ve always wanted to make an instrumental album. I enjoy instrumental music as much as I enjoy music with lyrics. It’s just a different path. There are moments in life that call for that kind of thing. I think instrumental music can take you places sometimes that lyrics can’t.

Broemel added:

Sometimes the guitars write the songs for you. Just moving your hands around and letting things happen. It’s hard to describe how to write an instrumental guitar piece. For me, it does seem to kind of come out of the guitar, more than out of my brain.

Out today via Duo Quest Records in partnership with Tone Tree Music, Ramsey’s fluid fingerstyle weaves gently against Broemel’s classically informed touch, thus creating a sound that feels both grounded and quietly transportive. The result is a predominantly acoustic song cycle that echoes the spirit of private-stock folk classics, drawing lineage from guitar traditionalists while remaining unmistakably modern. "Celestun" arrives alongside a U.S. tour kicking off this weekend at the 30A Songwriters Festival, where the duo will bring these songs to life.
