Oxnard indie duo Chatterton return with Blouse, the shimmering lead single and closing track from their upcoming EP Tiny Empire. With bossa nova–tinged rhythms, sauntering brass solos, and biting lyricism, the track balances dreamy levity with sharp emotional edges. What began as a stray line about “hollow earth” transformed into a layered argument, sharpened further by Lily’s haunting guest vocals. The result: a track that builds and bends until it feels like it might snap — but never does. Bandleader Brock Pierce explains:

This song was the last one we recorded for the EP. It started as something I was absentmindedly strumming between sessions… we even cut a song to make room for it. I’m glad it worked out that way.

The official music video, out now, follows the pair through a surreal florist adventure — blending humor and tension in true Chatterton fashion. “Blouse” arrives as Chatterton continue their rise within Southern California’s indie circuit, where they’ve shared stages with julie, Slow Hollows, Sign Crushes Motorist, and more. Following acclaim for their sophomore album Fields Of This, the duo now prepare for their Moroccan Lounge performance supporting Coma Cinema this Saturday, September 6. Stream “Blouse” now and pre-order "Tiny Empire" ahead of its September 19 release. Connect with Chatterton on INSTAGRAM, BANDCAMP, TWITTER, and TUMBLR.
