Cut The Kids In Half Let "Wild Rabbit" Kick Against The Cage

Written By: Big C

Some cages are habits repeated until they feel like shelter. Cut The Kids In Half push against the cage of repeatable habits Wild Rabbit, the first single from Animals On Angel Dust. The Boston five-piece connects defiant riffs with a question that reaches beyond rebellion, "why do we ask for freedom while protecting the routines that limit us?" That friction gives the song’s rough-edged approach a purpose, place instability inside the design rather than outside it. Jack Silver desicribes matching the lyric’s struggle to finding balance and the feeling he was chasing:
I was chasing a wiry, ramshackle sound. A feeling between panic, fury, and release.

Animals On Angel Dust arrives December 11 as the band’s first project made as a full five-piece, extending the journey of "Mountains Of Green." Brothers Jack Silver and Charlie Silver join guitarist Kevin Mortenson, drummer Luke Tan and bassist, trumpeter and keyboardist Joey Sorkin across eleven songs and more than an hour of music. Ray Ketchem handled production, mixing and mastering, giving that expanded lineup a consistent recording team. The album’s range stretches from the daily-life concerns of Drinking The Dawn and Footsteps to the stranger territory of Black Rain Blues and Arms Et Cetera. Following the October 15 show at The Jungle, the hometown run continues October 24 at Her House and ends December 11 at The Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge.
