Go, go! Don’t let anything hold you back! Elton John and Brandi Carlile have teamed up to release Swing For The Fences, a life-affirming rock anthem and the latest single from their forthcoming collaborative album, Who Believes In Angels?. Out on April 4, 2025 with Interscope Records. Blending euphoric rock ‘n’ roll energy with a message of defiant self-belief, the track channels both artists’ journeys as queer icons and trailblazers. Inspired by their personal stories of triumph over adversity, “Swing For The Fences” is an anthem for those who dare to dream bigger. Brandi says:
Swing For The Fences was a little gem I took into the studio with me. I’m a gay woman, Elton’s a gay man and we both have families, and our dreams have come true. I was thinking, wouldn’t it be cool to write an anthem for young gay kids out there that calls them into a bigger, more elegant, more fabulous life.
Elton John echoes this sentiment, describing the track as the turning point for the entire album:
All the uncertainties started to dissipate when this song came together. It just sounded great
"Who Believes In Angels?" was born out of a three-week marathon session at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles. The album’s genre-blending scope spans from ballads to raw rock ‘n’ roll, fusing pop, country, and synth-heavy psychedelia into a kaleidoscopic soundscape. In anticipation of the album release, Elton and Brandi are set to perform at the sold-out An Evening With Elton John & Brandi Carlile on March 26 at the London Palladium. The show promises to be a unique blend of live performance and storytelling, bringing to life the songs of "Who Believes In Angels?" in one of London’s most iconic venues.
