Not every summer memory deserves to be made into the scrapbook. Feng turns that idea inside out on Fake Friends, a bright-but-bitter lead single from his forthcoming Summer At Camp Lakepine EP. Lakepine’s production scatters synth flashes, firecracker drums, and rumbling bass beneath Feng’s sing-song delivery, With enough color to hide the sting in its lyrics, the Los Angeles-shot video pushes follows him through train tracks, neon streets, traffic lights, and a downtown rooftop where mannequins eventually go up in flames. The line between friendship and envy becomes the real villain here, especially once the song lands on the kind of betrayal that only hurts. Feng sums it up with one clean wound:
They want to see you do good, but never better than them / We grew up in the same hood, we used to be best friends.
Feng co-directs the visual with Lakepine and also handles its editing and creative direction, which makes the clip feel inseparable from the world he is building around the music. "Summer At Camp Lakepine" follows the February release of Feng’s debut album, Weekend Rockstar, but it already points toward a more diaristic chapter.
