If you sit in the dark long enough, your eyes adjust, but they don’t forget what they saw. BendreTheGiant turns Swollen Eyes into the tension of fatigue, loss, and late-night reflection into something structured and deliberate. Led by Ben Estrada, the project blends funk-infused R&B with jazz phrasing, folk softness, and cumbia rhythm without forcing cohesion. The transition from solo work into a full band is felt, giving the records more weight and interaction across tracks. There’s a clear emphasis on live texture, brass, layered instrumentation, and a pacing breathe instead of stacking sounds. "Swollen Eyes" doesn’t try to clean up the emotional rollercoaster. Speaking on the upbringing, Estrada recalls:
I grew up watching The Princess Bride all the time. When I first made an Instagram account as a teen, I wanted a unique handle that represented me. I was a tall kid and a fan of Andre. So, I went with BendreTheGiant. When I began my individual music career after school, I just thought it fit, and now it’s officially stuck.

The album was built and recorded across multiple studios with support from MusicOregon’s Echo Fund and shaped through collaboration with Justin Yu. Estrada, Delos Erickson, and Eli Hansen anchoring the production. Meanwhile, contributions from Nicole McCabe and Katy Ohsiek extend the record’s range alongside the full band structure, giving BendreTheGiant a more durable foundation. With "Swollen Eyes" arriving June 12 via Tender Loving Empire Records, the direction is clear and controlled. Connect as BendreTheGiant continues building on SPOTIFY, YOUTUBE, and INSTAGRAM.
