With their newest single Ain’t Quite Right,” enigmatic alt-duo Still Blank stretch the tension between vulnerability and detachment with shoegaze whispers and grunge minimalism. Written during a grey Manchester winter, the track flips their usual creative process, letting the imbalance seep into the music itself. Jordy (Kaua’i) and Ben (Manchester) build an uneasy push-pull dynamic across sparse production and jagged guitar responses while creating a song which breathes, jolts, and bruises all at the same time. We wanted it to feel on edge—building tension. The lyrics explore a dysfunctional relationship where both sides are suffocating, and neither can let go.
