There are tides within us, unseen but felt. ISTA’s latest release, Waves, dives deep into the psychedelic soul with a glimmering, genre-defying energy that feels at once sacred and rebellious. Produced by Sam Cohen, “Waves” is a sonic evolution for the band, pushing their signature blend of funk, psych rock, and raw communal joy into new, emotionally charged terrain. Initially sparked in a bedroom during a time of personal transformation, “Waves” carries the weight of becoming. Co-founder Rex Costello, describing the genesis of the track as a moment of emotional clarity and reverence, stating:

The chorus vocal came out of me that very first night like a prayer.

The New York-based collective channels a sound that is cosmic yet tender, radiating nostalgia wrapping listeners in echoing guitar textures and a hypnotic, harmony-rich crescendo. Filmed entirely on the island of Kauai using vintage Super 8 film, the visual is a love letter to nature and intentional living, blending cinematic landscapes with moments of unfiltered human connection. The band, comprising seven multi-talented musicians, has continued to build momentum since their formation in 2019. Immerse yourself and connect with ISTA on Instagram and Spotify.
