Joyer Hand "Tell Me" To Total Wife & Let Reinvention Take Over

Every great record leaves room for another conversation. Joyer is proving that sometimes the next chapter belongs to someone else. The East Coast indie duo opens On The Other End Of The Line...(Crossed Lines Remixes) by inviting fellow artists to completely reshape the emotional landscape they originally built. The first glimpse arrived through Tell Me (Total Wife Remix), where breakbeats, dissolving synths, and dreamlike textures pull the reflective closer into experimental territory. It's an approach which feels bold because the remix challenges the original. The willingness to surrender creative control says as much about the band's confidence as the music itself. With the deluxe edition arriving September 11 through Julia's War Recordings, Joyer are expanding the albums possibilities. Before unveiling the project, Nick Sullivan reflected on why this collaboration mattered:

The most exciting thing about getting these remixes together is collaborating with our friends in a way we never have before. We've had friends add some instrumentation to our songs in the past, but have never really given over the reins completely to let artists totally do their own thing. We've been friends with Total Wife for a while, and their album come back down from last year is next level, so they were at the top of our list of artists to ask.

That collaborative spirit mirrors the journey that shaped "On The Other End Of The Line…" itself. Produced by Henry Stoehr at Chicago's Palisade Studios, the original album traded heavier shoegaze tendencies for sharper melodies, richer arrangements, and a more exposed emotional perspective. Alongside contributions from Jake Miller, Sabrina Nichols, and Morgan Powers, brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan transformed years of touring, relocation, and personal change into one of their most complete statements to date. The remix edition carries that same openness by welcoming reinterpretations from Shower Curtain, Bleary Eyed, Melaina Kol, Hooky, Chatterton and Total Wife, allowing each artist to reveal a different side of Joyer's songwriting.
