Rising from Brooklyn’s indie rock underground with sharpened clarity and uncompromising vulnerability comes Local Weatherman. From their upcoming EP Right One, the band unveils their electrifying first single Thread. Fueled by spiraling guitars and a vocal performance brimming with urgency, the track confronts the mental unraveling that emerges when identity, ambition, and anxiety collide. Opening with that mirror a restless mind, “Thread” moves between explosive, agitated riffs and introspective beauty, capturing the duality at the core of the EP’s theme. Frontman Fritz Ortman describes it as:
Thread’ is about having no release valve when your mind is racing. It’s the heaviest song we’ve made, but I think the bridge is one of the prettiest moments on the EP. This song also reckons with the rockstar dreams I had growing up (and maybe still have), and each verse ends with a nod to a song I loved as a kid.

Set against the backdrop of New York’s DIY rock renaissance, "Right One" signals a powerful evolution for the band as they explore emotional fragmentation, self-confrontation, and the fragile hope that emerges in breaking down and rebuilding. With each track stitched together by evocative storytelling and soaring arrangements, Local Weatherman redefined the sound of modern indie rock through truth, grit, and melodic release. "Right One" arrives January 16, 2026 on cassette, CD, and streaming platforms. Stream “Thread” now and follow Local Weatherman on INSTAGRAM, SUBSTACK, YOUTUBE, and BANDCAMP.
