Lorg Runs Through Grief On "I Fell For Fantasy"

Grief rarely moves in a straight line, so Lorg built an entire quest around surviving its turns. On I Fell For Fantasy, the singer and co-creator behind SALES steps fully into their solo identity with a debut shaped by heartbreak, doubt, and the decision to keep moving. Independently released and co-produced with Adam McDaniel, the album was recorded between Drop Of Sun Studios in Asheville and Lorg’s home studio. Its production leaves room for Juno synth bass, birds captured outside a window, buzzing amplifiers, stripped guitars, and the kinds of imperfections that make recovery sound lived-in. The album’s fantasy language is not an escape from pain but a way to give Doubt and Despair faces that can be confronted, understood, and eventually befriended. That framework lets Lorg describe going solo as both a spiritual rupture and the counterspell needed to rebuild. He explains:
Going solo was spiritually difficult. I had always wanted to but it felt like I was throwing the baby out with the bath water.
The visual world makes that transformation physical through the Crossroads video directed and choreographed by Coco Villa with creative direction from Lorg. A ghillie-suited creature learns to dance, love, and let go, turning an odd silhouette into a tender guide through the album’s central conflict. Cowboy Songs opens the record by looping personal patterns into a pop prophecy, while Brandy uses experimentation to reconnect Lorg with a signature sound. Elsewhere, Life Of A Dream faces what cannot be recovered, while So I Put It In A Song strips an overbuilt arrangement back to vocals, guitars, amplifier buzz, and one exhausted studio question. By the closer, the question is no longer whether Lorg has arrived at a perfect destination, but whether they can recognize how far they have already traveled.
