Some records sound unearthed from emotional wreckage still smoldering underneath the surface. M.O.T.H.E.R. arrives carrying that kind of volatile energy, transforming grief, reinvention, brotherhood, and emotional survival into something massive, unstable, and strangely comforting all at once. Led by Robbie Furze of The Big Pink and Panic DHH, the self-titled debut EP refuses to behave like a traditional band introduction. It feels like the opening transmission from an evolving creative organism, one capable of mutating shape, sound, and emotional direction with each release. Furze and his collaborators fuse towering hooks, scorched electronic textures, and bruised emotional honesty into four songs. The project’s centerpiece, MY LOVE, captures that emotional contradiction especially well. Beneath the explosive instrumentation and hymn-like scale sits something deeply personal, rooted in grief, fatherhood, fragility, and the desperate instinct to keep believing in connection even while life is splitting apart around you. Furze had to say:
'MY LOVE' reads like a love story. But it came from losing my mother and having my daughter at the same time, just trying to hold onto hope, because love is everything and all around. It sings like a hymn.

The AI-directed visual from Madrid-based artist YZA Voku intensifies that atmosphere further, surrounding the song with fragmented, surreal imagery that feels suspended somewhere between memory, collapse, and rebirth. Rather than functioning as a detached visual experiment, the video mirrors the EP’s larger emotional instability. Contributions from Jamie Hince and Jamie T help widen the project’s sonic reach, but the EP never feels crowded by names or legacy references. Echoes of Massive Attack, UNKLE, and N.E.R.D. can certainly be felt throughout the project’s DNA, yet "M.O.T.H.E.R." avoids sounding trapped inside homage.
