Michigander, the brainchild of the talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jason Singer, has taken the indie rock scene by storm with his latest release, Giving Up. This dynamic track, now available via Michigander’s imprint Totally Normal Records through Thirty Tigers, has quickly garnered attention for its relatable lyrics and anthemic sound. Paired with a visually captivating music video directed by Tyler Appel, “Giving Up” showcases Michigander’s signature blend of songwriting and vocal abilities. Reflecting on the personal nature of “Giving Up," Jason Shares:
I was so excited after I wrote this song. It’s an anthem for the people pleasers who are always trying to make other folks happy. They go to great lengths to make things work out in situations where it’s really not worth their time or good for their mental health. It’s a special song for me, because it’s self-referential.
The success of “Giving Up” extends beyond the airwaves, making an impressive impact across a wide range of top playlists, including Spotify’s The New Alt, Apple Music’s The New Rock, and Tidal’s The Hot Rock, among others. This momentum is set to carry Michigander through an epic headline tour beginning October 10 in Cincinnati, OH. Fans can look forward to solo acoustic performances alongside Band of Horses, as well as shows with The Head and The Heart, Crowded House, and more.
