When the world keeps screaming, silence becomes sanctuary. Moby's 23rd studio album Future Quiet opens a reflective new chapter. Arriving February 20, the announcement of the album is led by a newly recorded, orchestral reimagining of When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die, featuring Jacob Lusk. Originally released in 1995 and rediscovered by a new generation through Stranger Things, the song finds renewed gravity in this 2026 version. Lusk’s voice brings a transcendent warmth to the arrangement, elevating the piece without disturbing its fragile core. Moby explains:

I first heard Jacob’s voice on KCRW when they started playing 'Love & Hate In A Different Time.' And, like anyone who’s heard Jacob sing, I immediately fell in love with his voice. After hearing him sing on the radio, I spent weeks tracking him down and begging him to work with me. And, lucky me, he agreed. The results speak for themselves, as his vocals on 'When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die' are, I say with something approaching objectivity, transcendent.

Across eleven tracks, the album leans into piano minimalism, ambient textures, and carefully placed vocal moments, exploring the tension between hyper-connected life and the human need for stillness. The renewed attention around "When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die" underscores the song’s enduring resonance. Once an obscure album cut, it has surged to become Moby’s most-streamed track following viral moments tied to 'Stranger Things' and TikTok, reaching hundreds of millions of listeners annually. That unlikely resurgence serves as a thematic bridge into "Future Quiet." Looking ahead, Moby is preparing for his biggest tour in over a decade, including a return to Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and a major appearance at On The Beach. Stream "When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die" now, pre-save "Future Quiet," and follow Moby on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Soundcloud, YouTube, TikTok, and Bandcamp.
