MX LONELY Break The Frame With "Ex Rae Punk"

Some houses protect what is inside; others reveal every crack. MX LONELY pushes through the second kind on Ex Rae Punk, a single featuring Caitlin Rae Taylor. The band works where shoegaze weight, punk pressure, and melody overlap. Taylor adds another lay with her voice speaking to music concerned with connection, frustration, and unstable surfaces. Although the track was created inside the band’s basement studio, MX LONELY’s work is not only about isolation. It is also about building a place where people can make noise in a community together. Rae explains the intention behind the release:
'Ex Rae Punk is about loving someone so hard you end up looking around for the pieces of someone for the rest of your life. It’s a reimagining of the first song I ever wrote in 2019 with Jake when we used to be called ‘v0idb0ys’. I briefly dated someone who would constantly refer to me as their “ex rae” (x-ray) after we stopped seeing each other. I realized quickly that they never really saw me at all (see right through you, see right through me),
Perfect House follows releases that established the group’s balance of distortion and directness. Julia’s War Recordings fits that approach as a community-minded Philadelphia label focused on artists pushing fixed boundaries. The official video gives "Ex Rae Punk" a visual extension as the band prepares an EP release show in New York City. MX LONELY’s plans reach beyond a single release cycle with touring, maintaining their studio, and inviting friends into the process.
