MX LONELY hits with force on March 16th. The guitars grind with purpose, the rhythm section stays tight but volatile, and the vocals push straight into confrontation. Discomfort turns it into structure as nothing is hidden behind abstraction. Featuring Caitlin Starr, the collaboration sharpens the emotional edge, especially as harmonies collide during the chorus. Compared to safer indie releases, this sound carries urgency and the payoff comes in how directly it lands. Visually, the Owen Lehman-directed video mirrors the track’s pressure, staging release through a chaotic party that borders on collapse. The track locks into heavy alt-rock tension and refuses to let it drift. The band explains:
'March 16th was originally written as an instrumental during the recording of 'ALL MONSTERS.' It was one we all really loved, but didn’t quite fit into the world of the record. When Caitlin came into our studio to track harmonies and additional guitar on 'Ex Rae Punk,' we decided in the moment that it would be cool to try some ideas on "March" as well. Caitlin came up with the hook almost immediately, and Jake added a weaving harmony. Rae contributed the counter-melody "I love you so" later on in the tracking process. We did the final take of Caitlin and Jake’s verse/choruses that same night, with both of them tracking vocals live, simultaneously - singing the song through in entire takes, leaving a space for where Rae’s verse would ultimately land.
The record’s construction reflects that same immediacy, built from demo foundations rather than stripped-down reworks, with the band treating their basement studio like an instrument instead of a backdrop. PERFECT HOUSE, set for October 2 via Julia’s War Recordings, pulls from that process, adding and subtracting until each track holds tension without excess. The rollout continues with a release show at The Meadows in Brooklyn and a European tour kicking off in Luxembourg, including stops at Pitchfork London and London Calling Festival.
