Indie-pop artist Mykel unveil a soul-baring ballad entitled Brace For Impact. As the first glimpse of her forthcoming debut EP Hometown Runaway, this track was born from a near-fatal car accident. On "Hometown Runaway," Mykel pushes past ego death, self-worth struggles, and faith deconstruction with layered, R&B-inflected pop crafted alongside GRAMMY®-nominated Yang Tan and 3x RIAA-certified Gehring Miller. With grand, theatrical vocals and sweeping production, Mykel turns personal wreckage into renewal. The brand new single finds a path for fans weaving through fragility and fearlessness. Mykel had to say:

It was born out of pure necessity. Because of the safe space my producer Gehring Miller created, I was able to finally face myself, my fears, and that unlock trickled into the entire six-song EP within a matter of three months... This EP is a beacon of truth and integrity that has both freed and terrified me.

To celebrate the single’s release, Mykel will host a special collaboration with Couplet Cafe in Downtown Los Angeles this Saturday, September 6, where fans can try a custom beverage inspired by “Brace For Impact.” With roots in Salt Lake City and a past steeped in Mormon tradition, Mykel’s journey now expands into self-owned artistry—after years of odd jobs and songwriting placements on shows like Love Island and Vanderpump Rules. Stream “Brace For Impact” now, and pre-save "Hometown Runaway" to hear Mykel’s story in full when it arrives November 7. Be sure to Follow Mykel on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook.
