“Lady Liberty took a fall,” sings GRAMMY® Award-winning Soul Queen of New Orleans, Irma Thomas, in a fiery social justice anthem that headlines her landmark collaboration with funk masters Galactic. Their upcoming album, Audience With The Queen, set to arrive April 11 via Galactic’s Tchuop-Zilla Records, marks a historic pairing of Thomas’ iconic voice with the band’s signature funky ensemble. The album spans eight original tracks tailored to Thomas’ blues-infused delivery and a reimagining of Nancy Wilson’s How Glad I Am. With a bold departure from Galactic’s instrumental roots, the record cements their role as musical torchbearers for New Orleans’ rich cultural tapestry. Lady Liberty, the album’s lead single, tackles urgent themes of racially charged violence and justice. Reflecting on the song, Thomas shared:
What’s happening around us needs to be sung about and heard. I’m making people more aware through song.
Galactic co-founder Robert Mercurio added:
Irma’s powerful performance elevates the song’s message in ways that only her legendary voice can.

The accompanying music video, directed by Yavez Anthonio, brings further poignancy to this rallying cry for change, combining Thomas’ emotive delivery with Galactic’s expertly arranged grooves. The album, produced by Galactic’s Ben Ellman and Robert Mercurio, highlights the group’s seamless synergy with Thomas, pushing both into new creative territory. Following the release, Galactic embarks on a Northeast tour starting January 23 in Philadelphia, PA, with stops including Brooklyn’s iconic Brooklyn Bowl and a Mardi Gras homecoming at Tipitina’s in New Orleans. Don’t miss the chance to experience this monumental collaboration live.
