Sometimes the weight isn’t dramatic, it’s just there. Quiet tension hums beneath Cashier’s latest move forward. Like I Do, is the first signal from their newly announced debut EP The Weight. With thick, forward-driving riffs and unguarded vocal delivery, the Lafayette four-piece step into a wider frame. The track leans into uncertainty rather than resolving it, tracing the push and pull of two people reading each other in real time. Cashier allow space for the song to breathe, letting repetition and volume do the emotional lifting. Frontperson Kylie Gaspard describes:

This one is more of a piece of generic rock. We kind of wanted to make our own version of that sound. The lyrics are very simple, just about two people figuring each other out, what feels right when you’re unsure of a scenario, and navigating another person’s energy.

The tracks marking the band’s signing to Julia’s War Recordings and a SXSW 2026 performance on the horizon. The Weight, arriving March 13, 2026, captures a band refining its force after years on the road with acts like Dinosaur Jr., Whirr, and Narrow Head. Recorded in their Louisiana hometown, the EP distills desire, hesitation, and emotional residue. Stream "Like I Do" now and stay tuned as "The Weight" comes into focus.
