Digital dread, analog soul. On September 19, industrial legends Nine Inch Nails will unleash a sonic reckoning with TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Their first project under the NIN banner in five years. Anchored by the searing new single As Alive As You Need Me To Be, the band reenters the arena with a pulse-racing blend of distorted textures, capturing the cyber-spiritual chaos of the TRON universe in a full-fledged statement of raw intent. Longtime collaborators and Oscar-winning composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have scored everything from The Social Network to Soul, but TRON: Ares is a sonic beast all its own. Reznor told Empire:

We approached this as a Nine Inch Nails record.

The album is more than a film score. With no orchestra in sight, the score abandons cinematic convention in favor of a visceral, synth-driven sound architecture that vibrates with menace and momentum. The film hits U.S. theaters October 10, but the single already sets the tone with a dystopian gospel that’s part digital requiem, part human scream. Ahead of the soundtrack’s release, NIN launches the sold-out North American leg of their Peel It Back Tour. Stream “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” pre-save "TRON: Ares," and witness the evolution.
