It’s wrong, but it’s everything. With evil eye, Texas-born artist Novulent summons a haunting storm of desire, diving deep into the messy, magnetic pull of toxic love. The third release from the upcoming album VOL.3, this swirling fusion of shoegaze, darkwave, and atmospheric grit makes for an intoxicating listen. With ghostly guitar washes and vocals that cut like vapor, “evil eye” explores the twisted thrill of reuniting with someone who once left you broken, thus capturing that liminal space between pain and euphoria. It’s the kind of track that lingers long after the last note, like a spell you can’t shake. Novulent said:

‘evil eye’ is about the unapologetic and euphoric feeling you get when you’re back with that specific person who ruined you, Like a forbidden love, it’s that rush you get knowing it’s so wrong but it feels so right.

The lyricism is visceral and cinematic: “Don’t be scared, ignore my evil eyes…” It’s a continuation of the narrative Novulent has been weaving across VOL.3, This is a project inspired by the emotional chaos of past relationships and reawakened longing. This summer, Novulent joins Violent Vira on the Chasing Ghosts North American Tour beginning July 15, followed by their own BEFORE VOL.3 headlining tour starting September 30.
