We did tons and tons of takes. We did a couple way in the back of the room, just screaming it. One time I sang it in my head voice. Then one just really loose and shouting. Writing 'Down' was cathartic. I loved experimenting with the space and dynamics in this song and giving my raw emotions room to breathe.
Producer De’Jour Thomas built the track with a Phil Spector-style wall of sound, recording layered takes of Grace's vocals at various distances and emotional intensities.
