There’s secrets I don’t tell ever to myself, I just keep moving. With that haunting admission, Patty Griffin opens Back At The Start. This is the lead single from her first all-new album in over six years, Crown Of Roses, arriving July 25. The track’s shadowy shuffle and rhythmic pulse mark a soulful return for the 2x GRAMMY® Award-winning songwriter. Written during the pandemic, discarded, and later revived, “Back At The Start” captures the tension between movement and memory. This almost cinematic reentry into Griffin’s world is an emotional terrain filled with unflinching elegance and introspective weight. Griffen says:
Part of it is about getting on with it. But part is also about staying stuck… trying to be alive while you’re alive.

That duality, threads throughout "Crown Of Roses," an eight-song journey that shifts between intimate folk, soulful Americana, and earthy gospel blues. Produced by longtime collaborator Craig Ross and graced with contributions from David Pulkingham, Michael Longoria, and a vocal cameo from Robert Plant, the album blends the wild textures of her Texas roots with the lush calm of Maine’s forests. Griffin ruminates on personal grief, womanhood, and the sound of her own voice post-cancer, each line written with poetic subtlety and spiritual ache. "Crown Of Roses" arrives July 25 and is available now for pre-save. Connect with Patty Griffen and FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, and YOUTUBE.
