Seattle’s eight-piece psych-funk collective Cytrus returns with Outta Control, Formed in Everett, WA, Cytrus emerged from two merging bands (HopSol and Bunk Foss) who were literally pushed together after being evicted from a shared rehearsal space. The new record finds the group exploring the tension between chaos and clarity, nostalgia and discovery. Describe as sonic evolution that fuses 1960s and ’70s psychedelia with modern funk and progressive soul, its the slow-burning first single from their forthcoming sophomore album Duality. Sludgy, melancholic, and hypnotic, “Outta Control” captures the weight of reflection. With hazy guitar tones and cascading keys, the song lingers in that space between regret and release. Guitarist and vocalist Jared Squires reflects:
