The Rolling Stones Give "Mr Charm" A Desert Detour
Written By: Big C
Charm does not always enter through the front door. The Rolling Stones send Mr Charm into the California desert with a new video directed by Henry Scholfield and starring Alexander Skarsgård. Shot in Palmdale, the visual extends a run of actor-led videos connected to Foreign Tongues, following appearances by Anya Taylor-Joy, Charles Melton, and Odessa A’zion. Skarsgård gives the song a character to move through while the band’s presence stays inside the pace and attitude of the record. The desert setting is a different kind of stage, but the timing still belongs to the Stones.
"Mr Charm" also arrives as a single package with the previously unavailable Bad Luck Hideaway, a duet between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards featuring drums recorded by Charlie Watts during sessions at British Grove. Andrew Watt produced the track after working with the band on "Foreign Tongues" and Hackney Diamonds. The fourteen-track album was recorded in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London and reached number one in fourteen countries.
