Sometimes the hardest truth is watching someone fall, and knowing you can’t catch them. World News delivered a track that's built on jangly guitars and driving basslines. On Sidestep there’s a steady build of melody tightening and tension rising, until it gives way to a sprawling instrumental release. Alex Evans’ delivery carries a blunt sincerity, allowing the feeling of helplessness to fully unfold. At its core "Sidestep," is about transforming a personal story into something widely recognizable. Evans says:
'Sidestep' is about watching someone you care about slowly avoid looking after themselves, drifting through life, wasting days on the wrong things, slipping into habits that only pull them further away from who they could be. It was written about a close family member, but I started to see how common it really is. At its heart, it’s about that helpless feeling of standing on the outside, seeing it all so clearly, wanting to help, and realising you can’t make the choice for them.

Recorded at RAK Studios with producer Tommy Bosustow, the track balances raw instrumentation with a refined structure. Following a breakout stretch that saw earlier releases gain organic traction and critical attention, "Sidestep" arrives as both a continuation and a deepening of the band’s identity. As they take the record across the UK and Europe on their current headline run, World News are translating that same intensity to the stage.
