Curren$y and Harry Fraud came together for there first project back in 2012 on the extended play Cigarette Boats. In 2020 Curren$y and Harry made two LP’s. The OutRunners and The Directors Cut, as well as an EP titled Bonus Footage. These three projects ended up being some of their best work yet. The duo’s newest project Regatta is right on par with those projects.

Curren$y started rapping in 2002 but he gained mainstream attention when he signed to Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment. His feature on Lil Wayne’s song Grown Man is when he became well known. This record appeared on Wayne’s LP Tha Carter II at the perfect time as Wayne was entering his prime. Curren$y stayed with Young Money until late 2007. In 2008 Curren$y would release Independence Day which was his first project since leaving Young Money. This would be one of seven projects he released that year. By 2011 he started his own label Jet Life Recording which includes several artists including Fendi P and T.Y. Around the same time Harry Fraud gained mainstream attention from his song with French Montana Shot Caller. This song became the most added song on urban contemporary radio from 2011-2012. The song was later remixed with features from Diddy, Rick Ross, and Charlie Rock.

Curren$y is by far the hardest working rapper in the game. Spitta has already released eight projects this year and six since June. He also plans releasing a project with The Alchemist called Half Moon Bay on December 10th. His last project of the calendar year will be Pilot Talk 4 with Ski Beatz which will make a total of 10 projects in one year. Harry Fraud has also had a very busy year. Besides this project with Curren$y he has also released joint projects with Jim Jones, Benny the Butcher, Dark Lo, Dave East, and most recently the late Lil Peep. The Lil Peep EP was only three songs but every other project had between 8 and 14 songs.

“Regatta” is an eight song EP that includes features from 2 Chainz, Larry June, Jay Worthy, and Styles P. Both Larry June and Jay Worthy have made projects with Harry Fraud. Jay and Harry released the EP Eat When Your Hungry Sleep When Your Tired in May of 2020 then 5 months later Larry And Harry released the LP Keep Going. Fraud’s production style has been described as “New York tinged, sample heavy, foggy music”. Fraud uses a lot of samples and is best known for taking obscure tracks and turning them into hard-knocking beats. Besides French Montana no one has capitalized on these kind of beats more than Curren$y, Larry June, and Jay Worthy.

My favorite song on the project is Sellin’ Cereal. This song features 2 Chainz who is no stranger to Harry Fraud’s beats. 2 Chainz was also on “The Plugs I Met 2” which was a project Harry made with Benny the Butcher earlier this year. Its been a while since 2 Chainz and Curren$y worked together. They have collaborated in the past but not early as much as June and Worthy who have become regulars on Spitta’s projects. Styles P also had a feature on the “The Director’s Cut”. Those three guys hardly ever miss but 2 Chainz was a nice change of pace.

Other favorites include Seventy-Five Tons and Willy & Sal. Curren$y’s best rapping and rhymes comes on the song “Seventy-Five Tons”. The song “Willy & Sal” refers to Willy Falcon and Sal Magluta from the Netflix show Cocaine Cowboys. These two guys ran one of the biggest trafficking operations in South Florida. The show started on August 4th 2021 and includes 6 episodes. My least favorite song was Car Lot. This track was too short and rhymes were mediocre.

Curren$y and Harry Fraud have become one of the best duos in hip-hop. This will almost certainly not be the last project they put out together. The amazing thing is that most of their projects are made in one night. They both make timeless music that has longevity. Curren$y’s flow is undeniable whether your a fan of his or not. Harry Fraud is creative enough to stay relevant for a very long time. He is able to cater to almost any one and his catalog proves it. “Regatta” is just another example of this duo’s chemistry.

Best Song = “Sellin’ Cereal” (Feat. 2 Chainz)
