It’s been almost two years since Lil Skies dropped a LP. He took his time because he knows this could be a make or break album for him. Many young artist like him have already fallen off. Artist like Lil Xan, Lil Pump, and 6ix9ine are pretty much done. In my opinion Lil Skies is better than Xan and Pump. 6ix9ine will struggle because he is cut off from the industry.

Lil Skies genre would me “Emo Rapper”. He’s at his best making songs about relationships and heartbreak. A typical Lil Skies record is Red Wine & Jodeci. Some of his strengths are also his weaknesses. He has material that catch quick but also get played out fast. He uses a lot of auto tone and is more about melody than bars. With that being said we do see some growth on this project. Ok is easily his best record based just on bars.

To his credit he made a pretty decent album with only two features. His two guest features were Wiz Khalifa and Lil Durk. Both songs were two of the better songs on the album. Skies and Durk surprisingly have very good chemistry on Havin My Way. I always prefer to hear no auto Durk but on this record it’s fitting that he used the auto tune with Lil Skies.

This album is a little more serious and deeper than the last. A couple songs would be Trust Nobody and Think Deep Don’t Sink. You can tell just on the titles that these might be darker records. He also experimented with his sound and particularly his voice by using different accents. I give him credit for trying to stay fresh but to me it was a failed experiment.

Lil Skies has a couple street records on this album but that’s not where he’s at his best. I’m not crazy about the record On Sight. It’s just hard to take him seriously. However, A lot of his fans are going to be younger listeners. I still think his best records are about heart break which every can relate too.

Overall I think this project is on par with his last LP Shelby” I’d gave them both a 3 ⭐️ rating which is average. If Lil Skies can play to his strengths I think he can stay somewhat relative for a few more years. However, if he tries to catch the next trend like many rappers his age then he’s probably going to flop.

Best Song = “Havin My Way” (Feat. Lil Durk)
