Love doesn’t always leave when it’s supposed to. Beatrix holds onto that presence with the latest single My Angel. The track moves like something half-remembered and half-felt. Not quite gone, but not fully here. Her voice carries that in-between—stretching across distance, searching for something that no longer answers back. Performed live with the full band and production by Philip Etherington, the track holds onto that rawness—untouched, immediate, and difficult to recreate. What forms isn’t closure, but connection that refuses to loosen its grip. Beatrix describes:
This one was recorded completely live — I played guitar and sang in a booth and the whole band played with me in separate rooms. Right before we hit record, my producer Philip Etherington said, ‘Are you ready? Your whole life has led up to this moment... I was crying when I heard it back for the first time. The guitar solo Harrison Whitford takes at the end does it for me every time. This was really a synergy of some of my favorite musicians ever all in one room. We didn’t rehearse before this day — they just had a demo of me playing it on guitar and unlike most of the other songs which took meticulous arranging and tweaking, this one felt like lightning in a bottle. We barely touched it and just tried to preserve what really happened in the room for those few minutes.
Directed by Rogue Bonaventura, the film feels like a home movie with the same warmth as the sunny day it was shot on. As We Swallowed The Sky approaches, more ghost becomes more defined.
