The comment section has become a crowded concert where everyone wants the microphone, but nobody seems interested in hearing the next verse. Richmond, Virginia's The Scorpion Brothers, also known as Los Hermanos Alacranes, confront that digital dissonance on Why Can’t You See Things My Way. The track is a sharp examination of online arguments, impulsive posting, and the increasingly blurred line between conversation and confrontation. Built around the repetition of its questioning title, the single uses lyrical irony to expose how quickly an exchange of opinions can become a competition for the final word. Rather than positioning themselves above the problem, the musicians acknowledge the temptation to participate, including the regrettable decisions that sometimes follow a few drinks and an unfiltered social media post. Their songwriting also introduces a subtle comedic edge, allowing the absurdity of digital one-upmanship to speak. The band offers a particularly pointed observation, with lyrics like:

The more that you talk, the less that you say / I’m surprised I hear anything at all.

The conflict between noise and meaningful communication also introduces the broader themes of the band's forthcoming album, Twilight Songs, produced by GRAMMY-winning musician and longtime Los Lobos member Steve Berlin. Developed from material which began during the pandemic, the project examines isolation, memory, longing, and perspective through a broad musical vocabulary that reaches across rock and roll, cumbia, ranchera, mariachi, Americana, and power pop. The addition of baritone guitar and Berlin's flute contributions introduces further instrumental possibilities, while their bilingual identity further expands the conversation across the Americas. The Scorpion Brothers have demonstrated their collective chemistry through performances with Los Lobos, The Sadies, and Los Straitjackets, alongside appearances at the Richmond Folk Festival and recognition from Style Weekly and the Richmond International Film Festival. Put down the phone and listen to "Why Can’t You See Things My Way" and follow The Scorpion Brothers on Instagram, Facebook, and Spotify.
