Sometimes the loudest healing starts with a whisper in the chaos. Austin-based alternative rock artist Bee Blackwell kicks off 2025 with LALALA. It's a sticky, melodic first taste of her upcoming self-produced EP Nine Lives, set to arrive June 20. Recorded at the famed Sonic Ranch studio over an intensive three-day sabbatical, the project is a vibrant testament to resilience while blending dreamy guitar licks, soft harmonies, and emo-tinged bursts of cathartic energy. Written as a bittersweet conversation between two estranged souls, “LALALA” unfurls with an upbeat groove while wrestling with themes of trust, distance, and self-preservation. Bee shares:
'LALALA' is a conversation between two people who haven't spoken in years. There's a sense of familiarity, but still a wall between them—you just fill the silence with made-up stories.

The official music video, captures Bee’s signature storytelling: candid, colorful, and emotionally raw, with an infectious edge that sticks long after the last chant fades. After making waves with her 2023 EP Calico and standout track Blue, Bee’s introspective new era marks a daring evolution. Bee Blackwell continues her steady climb after a buzzworthy debut at SXSW and a string of energetic Texas shows earlier this year. "Nine Lives" promises atmospheric guitar hooks, steady rhythmic percussion, and a fresh fusion of 2000s emo nostalgia layered with honest vulnerability.
