Are there specific venues or festivals you dream of performing at in the future?

Venue wise I’d definitely say Red Rocks in Colorado is at the top of my list and of course I‘d have to say Madison Square Garden. I’d love to play New Orleans Jazz Fest too.

How has your musical style evolved since you started, and where do you see it going in the future?

When I started I definitely was way more in the 50’s rock and roll vain, which is always a part of my roots, but as time has gone on I’ve really evolved into some more 70’s pop/rock piano influences and singing wise I’ve gotten heavy into guys likes Huey Lewis and Joe Cocker. When I first started it was all Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis but I think like all artist, there’s this natural evolution. I’m not sure where it will go next but I’m excited to see.

How do you engage with your fan base, and what kind of relationship do you aim to build with them?

I do a lot of my engagement through social media. I really want to build an honest relationship, so my fans see me for who I really am. I think as an artist the best thing we can do is be our true selves.

Can you share a bit about your experience with music education and its impact on your career?

A tricky question for me cause I’m mostly self-taught. I’ve had some great musicians and friends give me advice and guidance over the year and definitely a lot of on the job training so to speak but no formal education. Personally I think if you want to be a performer, the best experience is stage and show time. That’s where it really counts, connecting with your audience.

What are your thoughts on the role of nostalgia and retro influences in contemporary music?

Personally I don’t see a lot of nostalgia in contemporary music. I know many artist of course have influences that you could call nostalgic or retro from artist that came before but I find a lot of modern music has become very pre-programed and all contains very similar sounds and vibes. Of course there are a few artist that stick out to me where you can clearly hear their influences but for the most part I think it all sounds very now and modern.

Are there any specific causes or messages that you are passionate about and incorporate into your music?

I’m definitely an old soul and am huge on always being you but for the most part I try to write about things that everyone can relate to and connect with. I will say on this new album, UFOs Over Phoenix, there is definitely one song I wrote that will make you think.

What's your take on the importance of live performances versus studio recordings in building a music career?

I’m all about doing it live. Whether in the studio or on stage I find that it’s just the most authentic. My favorite thing is performing in front of people to a large crowd but even when I record, like with the new album and this current single, that was all cut live, raw and rockin’ right in the studio. What you hear is what happened.

How do you adapt to changes and trends in the music industry while staying true to your artistic vision?

I honestly tend to find I don’t. I think the best way to stay true to yourself is to just do what you do. Of course I listen to some modern music and stay up to date on what’s happening but for the most part I just do what I want to do.

Lastly, what legacy or impact do you hope to leave through your music?

I hope, when it’s all said and done, that people will be inspired to pursue their dreams and passions and not let others or society pull them down. I think I do that by keeping the course and doing what I want to do and staying authentic.

What are you bringing to the cookout and where can fans connect with you at?
