Behind The Lens: Rasheem Johnson (Part Six)
How would you describe your music to a first-time listener?
Very inspirational, full of hope, motivational. Uplifting, pushing the culture forward.
You're celebrating a major career milestone with a trip to the ice cream shop. What's your go-to flavor and why?
Rum raisin, it reminds me of my late great step father (Winston Latty). He used to always push me towards being a better version of myself. Sip King (Swaura)4Ever Long live the empire.
What do you want fans to take away from your music?
Healing, energy, motivation, and perspective. Just always know with hard work determination, discipline and dedication u can turn nothing into something. Get up and go for it.
What about making music makes it fun for you?
Once I catch a good melody to the hook or chorus, it's a go. I just catch and feel a vibe like no other. (SWAURA)
How do you know an idea is worth developing into a song?
Once I catch a good melody to the hook or chorus, it's a go. I just catch and feel a vibe like no other.
When do you decide to shelf an idea that isn't going to work?
When the dots don't connect. The energy not the same as my previous release. If the vibe is off it's a no go.
Did you think a song was going to be less successful than it actually became?
Yeah my singles Stop Cappin and True Colors. I get alot of positive feedback from those to classics. Not to mention i recorded "True Colors" way back in 2009 January 21,2009. Today it's one of my leading singles.
What's one lyric you find fans repeating back to you?
