A new chapter in the TRON sonic universe arrives today with the release of TRON: Ares – Divergence, a companion project to TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), out now via Interscope Records. The 20-track collection reimagines and expands the film’s musical world, pairing previously unreleased score material from Nine Inch Nails with reinterpretations from a cross-section of boundary-pushing electronic and experimental artists.

Divergence features new and alternate compositions from the original 'TRON: Ares' score alongside remixes and reinterpretations by Arca, Mark Pritchard, Boys Noize, Lanark Artefax, Chilly Gonzales, Danny L Harle, Jack Dangers, Pixel Grip, Working Men’s Club, The Dare, and Schwefelgelb. The project is available digitally now, with 2-LP vinyl and CD editions open for pre-order.

A Score That Redefined The Franchise

The original 'TRON: Ares' soundtrack marked the first-ever film score credited to Nine Inch Nails as a band, rather than to members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross under their own names. The release debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Dance Album charts and landed in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200. In the UK, it topped the Official Soundtrack Albums Chart.

The lead single, As Alive As You Need Me To Be, went on to win the GRAMMY® Award for Best Rock Song. The track was described by The New York Times as a return to the band’s signature “buzz-bomb synthesizers” and industrial intensity—blending the aesthetic of their early catalog with cinematic scope.

While Reznor and Ross have collectively won two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, a GRAMMY®, and an Emmy for their scoring work, 'TRON: Ares' represented a deliberate shift—reasserting Nine Inch Nails’ identity within a blockbuster franchise known for its cutting-edge electronic sound design.

Touring The Grid

The release of Divergence arrives as Nine Inch Nails continue the second North American leg of their Peel It Back Tour. The current run includes stops in Tulsa, Austin, Las Vegas, San Diego, and concludes March 16 in Sacramento. The previous global leg sold out across Europe, the UK, and North America, drawing more than 450,000 attendees.

Founded in 1988 by Reznor, Nine Inch Nails has sold over 20 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. In 2025, the group was named Live Act Of The Year by Consequence.

With 'TRON: Ares – Divergence,' the band extends the film’s digital dystopia beyond the screen—offering a reinterpretive, club-forward companion that bridges industrial rock, experimental electronics, and cinematic scoring.

The album is streaming now on all major platforms here. Vinyl and CD editions are available for pre-order.
