Vevo has unveiled a pair of striking DSCVR performances from indie-rock force Blondshell. DSCVR helps rising voices like Blondshell reach audiences worldwide while spotlighting the human truths at the core of their music. This time spotlighting Thumbtack and Toy from her acclaimed sophomore album If You Asked For A Picture. Filmed at Vevo’s New York studio, the sessions wrap her sharp songwriting in vivid red-and-orange light, creating a raw yet cinematic backdrop as Blondshell and her live band deliver performances brimming with tension, catharsis, and an unshakable cool. She explained to FLOOD Magazine:
They’re largely about my OCD, and trying not to obsess. There are some things that obviously everybody will want to control. When you want to control the outcome of something, it can often mean that you care about it. But I think that I’m now developed enough as a person to actually give up control over some things.
By curating intimate, stripped-back performances, "If You Asked For A Picture" dives into themes of heartache, body image, and the complexities of self-control. Both songs reflect the emotional weight that anchors the album. “Toy” and “Thumbtack” wrestle with obsessive thought patterns and the fine line between care and control. Onstage, her delivery mirrors this honesty: visceral and vulnerable, yet emboldened by the sonic strength of her band. Vevo’s DSCVR series has long been a launchpad for artists poised to break into new territory, with past alumni including METTE, Victor Ray, and Myles Smith. Watch Blondshell’s Vevo DSCVR performances and step into the unflinching honesty of one of indie rock’s boldest new storytellers.
