Seven-piece retro soul-pop collective Couch opens a new chapter with What Were You Thinking. The powerful lead single from their upcoming debut album Big Talk, due out this fall. The single is filled with soulful vocals, plush harmonies, and full-band dynamics which feels intimate and commanding. Built from the Boston-based real experience, the song chronicles Siegel’s reflections on a complicated relationship from her late teens. Fusing bold brass, searing honesty, and a groove-drenched arrangement, the track delivers an emotionally electric anthem about reclaiming power after being carelessly discarded. Vocalist Tema Siegel says:
This song is me speaking to him like a peer, and letting him know he was completely out of line.
As lead guitarist Zach Blankstein explains:
It’s moody and nostalgic, but also warm and bright—a soundtrack for that phase in life when things start to click, even if everything’s still a little messy.

Mastered by Colin Leonard, the track opens the door to what promises to be an emotionally rich, musically daring debut LP. Co-written and arranged through a collaborative, mostly live process, Couch’s sonic palette shines brighter than ever with vintage tones, textured horns, and organic energy refined for the studio to the stage. Likewise, "Big Talk" will explore a multi dimension of a love that's platonic, romantic, and self. The LP will tap into the moments that demand we trade small talk for radical honesty. Couch is ready to take up space unapologetically vibrant, openhearted, and bold!
