Arriving like headlights, old conversations in empty parking lots, or rain hitting the windshield a certain way late at night, Rainy Nights & Rearview Windows transforms those passing reflections into something deeply human and quietly unforgettable. Sue Horowitz understands how deeply ordinary moments can carry emotional weight, and across thirteen tracks, the award-winning songwriter moves through heartbreak, resilience, grief, humor, aging, love, and uncertainty with honest emotional clarity. The kind which comes from someone willing to sit inside life’s uncomfortable spaces. Producer Eric Kilburn helps elevate the acoustic resonance, surrounding the record with organic warmth, while Horowitz brings her strong vocal intimacy. While discussing the emotional roots of the album, Horowitz shared:
This album grew out of days and nights thinking about the roads I’ve taken and the ones I’ve left behind. It’s about the stories we replay in the rearview mirror—and the courage to keep moving forward.

That emotional tension between reflection and forward motion shapes the album beautifully. Songs like Inheritance and Long Goodbye” confront generational silence, mortality, and emotional reckoning without becoming emotionally suffocating, while tracks such as Anybody Can Write A Song allow humor and self-awareness to soften the heavier emotional terrain surrounding them. Aces and Mystic” step into broader social and emotional realities, while collaborations with Sloan Wainwright and Jillian Matundan also deepen the album’s emotional palette, particularly on Fall In New England. After more than two decades of touring, songwriting workshops, retreats, and building communities around music, Horowitz is focused on preserving emotional truth wherever she finds it.
