Former NFL star turned Atlanta rapper Darren Waller is making waves this summer with his latest release, the On Notice: Bag Talk EP. This 4-track project follows hot on the heels of last month’s successful EP, Mind Games: It’s All In Your Head. With "On Notice: Bag Talk," Waller delves into themes of competitive spirit, self-reflection, and resilience, showcasing his growth as both an artist and an individual. From the powerful anthem Bag Talk to the introspective Day In The Life, Waller’s lyrical depth and authenticity continue to shine, proving that his transition from the football field to the music industry is more than just a side hustle—it’s a full-blown evolution. Waller shares his thoughts on the EP:

As I’m focusing on putting my album together, I definitely didn’t want to let these 4 tracks go to waste. Recording outside in my backyard this spring and summer has helped me tap into all the different characters that make up who I am as an artist, and these are some of the first few songs I made after my change in studio environment. I combined two of the song titles again and named it On Notice: Bag Talk because it’s definitely my most aggressive release to date. But like Kendrick said, ‘Sometimes you gotta…’ :)

This week, Waller appeared on the Amazon Music original podcast Bars And Nuggets, where he opened up about his unexpected journey from the NFL to music. He discussed his challenges, including falling out of love with football, battling substance abuse, and navigating a short-lived marriage, while also highlighting his Pro Bowl career and lifelong passion for music. Waller continues to deliver an empowering message: “Get back up! Keep going. The only story that matters is the one you tell yourself.” Be sure to connect with Darren Waller on INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, TIKTOK, and YOUTUBE. Stream the EP below and here.
